When I started my Pediatric Sleep Consulting Business, Tiny Transitions, almost ten years ago, there was little competition. There were two primary “teachers” in the space and plenty of new parents with little sleep education or support. Fast-forward to today, when becoming a “coach” is all the rage across every vertical, and everyone who used to ‘coach’ has realized the lucrative opportunity to ‘be the teacher’, and you are left with hundreds of hungry piranhas in a small pond.

Today, regardless of your business, everyone is in a hypercompetitive market. Let’s pretend you were at a baby show. I have been speaking at PregoExpos across the country in a partnership with Naturepedic, and I see several pelvic floor therapists and doulas at each event, vying for the attention and business of the same 1,000 attendees who are ready to pop.

How Do You Rise Above the Clutter and Turn the Attention Back to You?

Think about the slot machines on a casino floor. All are trying to get your attention; different manufacturers often own them. What makes you decide which to play? For me, it’s Wheel of Fortune. I love the game on TV, and the chance to have the wheel spin on the slot machine is a rush. As a business, you have to figure out strategies and tactics that will set you apart by messaging, how you offer your services, or the process in which people buy the service. It’s rarely one that wins, but a combination of all efforts.

You have to look at buyer behavior.

What’s the first thing they do after your ‘free webinar’ or hearing you speak at an event? They “Google It,” and you lose them in a sea of results.
What I started doing was calling that out with “Why You Shouldn’t Google This” and explaining the risk of doing so.

So, my challenge for you this week is to look at your business and really dive into the clutter and chaos. You can begin to dissect every problem you have in your business today and figure out how to combat those individual issues one at a time, both tactically and strategically.

It is unlikely that one solution will solve everything, but a series of strategically implemented tactics can be applied to your business to change everything.

Cheers to your success,
Courtney
